My Dead Dad's Porno Tapes

My Dead Dad's Porno Tapes

Was my father’s leftover stuff the key to who he really was? Winner of the Vimeo Staff Pick Award at the 2018 Ottawa International Animation Festival. "Honest, funny, nostalgic and incredibly inventive, the recipient of this prize tells the story of a young man sifting through his late father’s belongings in an attempt to uncover the intimate details of his life. A perfectly arranged menagerie of old film footage, audio recordings, and meticulously crafted stop motion animation, it is a beautiful tribute to a complicated but devoted father-son relationship. We are proud to present the Vimeo Staff Pick Award at the Ottawa International Animation Festival to “My Dead Dad’s Porno Tapes” by Charlie Tyrell." - Meghan Oretsky, Curator at Vimeo

Silent Sam

Silent Sam

Sam is a 27-year-old music-teaching, sovereign ring-wearing, chanting Buddhist. He is the lead singer of an up-and-coming punk band - but he’s also mute ... at least for most of the time. After two unsuccessful vocal chord operations, Sam spends most of his time in pain and on voice rest. Yet, by communicating silently through writing notes, mouthing words and blowing kisses (one for yes and two for no), he still somehow manages to be the chattiest person in the room. As he sacrifices speaking on a daily basis in order to battle through the excruciating pain of singing, Sam finds himself and his voice at a crossroads - give up on his dreams of music or continue singing and risk remaining silent forever? Silence takes its mental toll and his sense of isolation deepens. Whilst exploring new treatment for his voice, navigating work at a door factory and maintaining his loving relationship with girlfriend Tilly, Sam’s journey leads him to have a radical revelation. Goodbye Design

Goodbye Design

Goodbye Design was a passion project of summer 2018. The idea was born when I walked out of a museum a few months ago amazed by a product design exhibition from around '50s. The geniality of minimal design mixed with used retro flavor and playful accent colors of everyday objects (mainly Braun) were the essentials for the concept of this short movie. Everything is driven by an excellent track from Dirty Art Club which was a perfect match with the rhythmical side of the concept. "Good(bye) Design " is a reminder of how people slowly lose a relationship with true Good Design. Let's look back at immortal design icons in this audiovisual experience! Enjoy ;) Music: Dirty Art Club - Sincerely Yours, the D.A.C.

Vivienne Ming - SuperHuman(ity): Optimizing Human Potential

Vivienne Ming - SuperHuman(ity): Optimizing Human Potential

Inspired by a remarkable personal transition, Vivienne Ming, CEO of Socos and self-proclaimed mad scientist, has set out to make people better versions of themselves. Whether she’s creating wearable technology to help autistic children learn empathy, or designing cutting-edge neuroprosthetics, her goal is the same—to augment human potential. While she believes technology can help us be our best selves, she also cautions of a future where some people are augmented and others are not. It’s imperative that we start these conversations now, so that all humans have the same opportunities to live out their full potential. The Litas

The Litas

This is a film about Gevin Fax, the oldest member of the women motorcycle collective, The Litas. Growing up in Los Angeles as an African American lesbian in the 1960s, Gevin found that the world wasn’t always forgiving. She started riding dirt bikes at the age of twelve which distanced her even further from the other kids. Though it was because of her love for riding that gifted her peace of mind; it was her meditation, her medicine, her way to escape all of the other noise. Now, because of The Litas, she shares her love for the road with thousands of women all over the world. -William Desena The Litas exists as the world's largest female biking collective and provides a inclusive community for female riders globally. In 2016 I met a Lita member while backpacking Costa Rica. This led me to LA based Lita member, Gevin Fax. Gevin stuck me as a leader and tenacious headstrong woman right off the bat. I am inspired by Gevin's unapologetic ability to follow her heart while empowering others to do the same. My hope is this film will instill the same flame for our audience to pursue whatever it is that makes them feel most alive. -Lindsey Hagen Brought to you by: Red Bull Media House Featuring: Gevin Fax & The Litas Produced by: Stept Studios Director: William Desena Executive Producer: Lindsey Hagen Associate Producer: Megan Arizmendi 16mm Cinematography: Ian Boll Post Production Supervisor: Connor Scofield Editor: Cameron Boll Colorist: Carlos Flores AC: Chris Naum Assistant Editor: Christian Carvallo, Chris Naum Sound Design: Leigh Powis Mix: Roman Richards

So begins the story of FJER initiating a poetic and freaky urban fantasy web series about emancipation and discovery of own sexuality.” Director : Jeanette Nørgaard | Producer: Lorène Lescanne | Countries of production: Denmark | Year of production : 2017 | Production : Sønc Aps With the support of: New Danish Screen, Den Vestdanske Filmpulje, ANIS FB facebook.com/Equinoxnoir/ Instagram instagram.com/equinoxnoir/ Full credit list: Director: Jeanette Nørgaard | Producer: Lorène Lescanne | Music: Jenny Rossander | Screenplay: Jeanette Nørgaard, Camilla Hübbe | Storyboard: Jeanette Nørgaard, Mads Juul | Voices: Jenny Rossander, Jonas Bjerre, Danica Curci, Lars Halvorsen | Background: Marie Jørgensen | Characters & Effects design: Jeanette Nørgaard | Project manager: Lorène Lescanne | Lead animator: Laura Büchert Schjødt | Animation: Pernille Kjær, Julie Baltzer, Julie Astrup, Jeanette Nørgaard | Color: Lorène Lescanne, Julie Baltzer | Compositing & Editing: Jeanette Nørgaard | Sound design & mix: Peter Albrechtsen | Dialogue editor: Lars Halvorsen | Assistent sound design: Mikkel Nielsen | Foley artist: Heikki Kossi | Foley mixer: Kari Vähäkuopus | Sound studio: Offscreen | Foley studio H5 film sound LTD | Production Company : Sønc Aps

For decades, the medical community has ignored mountains of evidence to wage a cruel and futile war on fat people, poisoning public perception and ruining millions of lives. It's time for a new paradigm.

Do Or Die

Do Or Die

It was the greatest shootout in NBA history…but the players were not on the same court. The 1977-78 NBA scoring title came down to the final day of the season. Heading into their last games, San Antonio's silky-smooth forward George Gervin was averaging 26.8 points per game. High-flying Denver showman David Thompson was at 26.6. Thompson had the greatest game of his career, shattering Wilt Chamberlain's record for most points in a quarter. When Gervin took the court later in the day, he knew that he had to respond with a masterpiece of his own—or else risk losing the crown. Peabody-Award winning director Dan Klores (Crazy Love, Black Magic, Winning Time) collaborated producer Chris Isenberg (Dock Ellis & the LSD No-No) and animator Andy Baker. The film uses interviews with Gervin, Thompson and others along with distinctive water-color driven animation to recreate action from two legendary games which left no surviving footage. Dan Klores’ Basketball: A Love Story, a 20-hour documentary series, premieres Tuesday October 9th on ESPN.

THE GREAT INDECISION COUNCIL

THE GREAT INDECISION COUNCIL

The Great Indecision Council has several billions of members. The Great Indecision Council is honoured to share some bits of human knowledge with non-humans. The Great Indecision Council does not take any decision. What do we say we’re interested in? What are we actually interested in? In the intimacy of our smartphone or computer, we secretly tell Google what we’d like to know about. By fetching most looked up words from Google search and Google news in real time, and by bringing them to the public space through visual and sonic signals, visual artist Romain Tardy proposes to the visitors an involuntary self-portrait of our contemporary networked society. The Great Indecision Council works exclusively with data from the country in which it holds the session, which is mixed with visual content and animations designed by the artist. The Great Indecision Council takes the shape of a large scale, light and sound installation. A 20-meter circle in which the audience is invited to get immersed in light, words and mystic computer-generated chants, while being watched by potential observers — from far, far away. Skin for Skin

Skin for Skin

Skin for Skin is a dark allegory of greed and spiritual reckoning set during the early days of the fur trade. In 1823, the Governor of the largest fur-trading company in the world travels across his Dominion, extracting ever-greater riches from the winter bounty of animal furs. In his brutal world of profit and loss, animals are slaughtered to the brink of extinction until the balance of power shifts, and the forces of nature exact their own terrible price. With nods to Melville and Coleridge, directors Kevin D.A. Kurytnik & Carol Beecher have created a visually stunning contemporary myth about the cost of arrogance and greed.

No Blue Without Yellow

No Blue Without Yellow

The film opens luring closer and closer to discover the possibility of stepping inside a fantastical sphere. The observer is slowly drifting into Van Gogh’s world, carried by the rhythm of a waltz. Van Gogh’s memories are sculpted within his paint strokes. His memories are alive within the film, but just for a fleeting moment. The fantasy lasts simply two minutes, but within that short time the observer is immersed in a painters lifetime. Thousands of people flock to the Alps each year to ski tour high-elevation routes, spending comfortable nights in a string of huts that serve wine and hot meals. This spring, a group of experienced skiers and their guide were trapped in a storm overnight on an exposed saddle. By morning, nearly all were dead or dying.

Trapped Summer

Trapped Summer

A humoristic tone to a hot summer… This summer was long, hot and somehow tiring... The idea for this animation came from my current life situation, a really hot summer, which sometimes feels like a dream for some people… holiday mode on, the beach, the sun, the drinks… but for me, I was just stack in the city of London… making this project I guess... The film has a humoristic tone, based around objects that I have in my everyday life, the cheap fan we bought to bear the heat, my swimming trunks, my girlfriend’s hat and the beach paddles/rackets that we never used. Plastic is the main object that this animation is based on, the plastic that has been on the media, in talks with your neighbour, on newspapers… In the recent years, people have become more cautious about the usage, using less of it, or none at all.. I decided to keep the animations very graphic and minimal as adding additional background sets was taking attention away from the actual focus point of the plastic and its complexity and details of the simulations animation - Peter Tomaszewicz sound - contour-studio.fr

Why Does Everybody Want To Fuck The Bartender?
If you’ve ever had a thirst and set out to quench it at a fine (or less than fine) drinking establishment, you’ve likely had a thing for a bartender, or at least found yourself in the company of some drunk idiot sweating over the person behind the stick.

DINNER FOR FEW

DINNER FOR FEW

“Dinner For Few” is a ten minute CG-animated film depicting a sociopolitical allegory of our society. During dinner, "the system" works like a well-oiled machine. It solely feeds the select few who eventually, foolishly consume all the resources while the rest survive on scraps from the table. Inevitably, when the supply is depleted, the struggle for what remains leads to catastrophic change. Sadly, the offspring of this profound transition turn out not to be a sign of hope, but the spitting image of the parents. EMMY award winning animation artist Nassos Vakalis directed and wrote the film and the animation was produced in the United States of America and Greece with the technical and artistic collaboration of Eva Vomhoff from Germany. “Dinner For Few” is produced and funded by Nassos Vakalis and his wife Katerina Stergiopoulou. The original music is composed by Kostas Christides and performed by the Bratislava Symphonic Orchestra. “Dinner For Few” was inspired by the economic recession affecting South European countries like Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal. Nassos Vakalis grew up in Greece, where his family and most of his friends still live. “Dinner For Few” not only reflects his deep concern of the social and economic developments during the crisis but also highlights the inevitable and cyclical nature of the human affairs throughout history. Through its festival run “Dinner for few” screened at over 250 international film festivals and won 78 awards. It was one of the 60 Animated Shorts that Qualified for the Academy Awards in 2015.
