jeijay (2021)

“jeijay” begins where most romantic movies end. The film is about two people who try to repress the slow but inevitable decay of their relationship. Feeling isolated in their own little home, more and more of the happy facade of their love life comes crumbling down. The profound melancholia of the subject is captured in little everyday moments that are intertwined with dreamlike sequences. website: fishyfilms-animation.de instagram: @fishyfilms.animation e-Mail: info@fishyfilms-animation.de CREDITS Concept/Direction/Animation Maren Wiese and Petra Stipetić Sounddesign Christian Wittmoser Music Thomas Höhl 3D Animation Yannick Stark Costume Fabrication Frankziska Müller Set Construction Günther Stangelmayer Color Correction Mikola Debik Voices Petra Stipetić Fabian Mankat funded by Hessen Film und Medien our startnext supporters

The Circle (Shortfilm)

The Circle (Shortfilm)

The circle evokes time, or more precisely, the fragments of time that pile up in a vast scenario of unique moments and memories. It is an introspective journey of wonder and imagination through these glimpses of time. This simple form has been a character present in my work for years, it represents care, calm, and attention to achieve its ultimate perfection. We are a circle, without boundaries, beginning or end. Infinity, Unity, connection, just a circle in expansion. This piece is part of Moco Museum collection. To be exhibited in Amsterdam and Barcelona.

Bizarre things happen in dreams: you fly, or conjure an all-you-can-eat buffet out of thin air, or get chased by witches through the halls of your school. But the strange things that happen in dreams don’t seem strange at the time. So, how do you know you’re not in a dream right now? Is there a way to prove that you're awake? Daniel Gregory digs into the philosophical theories of wakefulness. Lesson by Daniel Gregory, directed by Me. Sound Design by Zing Audio!

Flowers

Flowers

FLOWERS is an afro-futuristic fairytale of love, following a ceremony of a mother giving away her son, adopting references to classic Disney stories from the 1930s-50s, modernising tropes for a coming of age tale. Through poetic abstract storytelling, elevated throughout by lush cinematic tones and stylised production and costume design, the whimsical story follows a prince as he journeys from the confinement of his family home into the harsh reality of the outside world in search of his one true love, to the disappointment of his overlooked brothers. In doing so the film reclaims the magic of that time we are all so familiar with: imagining what a black fairy-tale would look and feel like, by inverting and adapting age-old themes of fairy-tale lore. Golden Jubilee

Golden Jubilee

What is liberation when so much has already been taken? Who has come for more? "Golden Jubilee", the third film in a series of works about memory, diaspora and decoloniality, takes as its starting point scenes of the filmmaker’s father navigating a virtual rendering of their ancestral home in Goa, India, created using the same technologies of surveillance that mining companies use to map locations for iron ore in the region. A tool for extraction and exploitation becomes a method for preservation. The father, sparked by a memory of an encounter as a child, inhabits the voice of a spirit known locally as Devchar, whose task is to protect the workers, farmers, and the once communal lands of Goa. Protection from what the filmmaker asks? Sanzgiri’s signature blend of 16mm sequences, 3D renders, direct animation, and desktop aesthetics are vividly employed in this lush, and ghostly look at questions of heritage, culture, and the remnants of history. Wastefellow - 'Post-Credits Scene'

Wastefellow - 'Post-Credits Scene'

Post-Credits Scene Is a short film about the monotony and repetitiveness of the office work environment told through the format of live action/paper animation. The process involved me printing out every frame we shot and then manipulating each frame by either drawing on it, ripping it up or physically cutting and pasting different frames together. I would then scan every frame back into the computer, sometimes moving the frame while it's being scanned to give a warping effect. There was no digital effects or compositing done for the video, only hand animation and scan warping. This process took 6 months to achieve. P&G | The Name

P&G | The Name

Everyone has a name — and from birth through a lifetime of introductions, it becomes the cornerstone of our identity. For many Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI), their given names carry an even deeper history and significance. But bias, indifference, and unintentional mistakes can lead to misidentification and mispronunciation. This film hopes to elevate the importance of a name, and how meaningful gestures — like pronunciation and understanding its meaning — can create a greater sense of belonging for us all. _ _ _ _ _ Client: P&G Main Cast: Miru Kim Sina Yoon Harry Han Pietra Castro Mary Ella Young Matthew Graham Agency: R/GA ECD: Gabriel Cheung & Xavier Teo CD: Leah Alfonso Art Director: Woohyun Lim Copywriter: Maya Shaddock Agency Producer: Greg Netter Account Director: Sonal Heda Director: Goh Iromoto Production: Sanctuary Content EP: Kristen Beddard Johnson / Noah Thomason / Preston Lee Service Co: Capital Media Company EP: Christian Allen / Krista Thompson Line Producer: Claire McGirr PM: Tai Scott PC: Ange Pegg 1st AD: Nathan Valente Cinematographer: Farhad Ghaderi 1st AC: Mikael Bidard Key Grip: Wil Parrott Gaffer: Greg Goudreau Casting: Sean Milliken Wardrobe Stylist: Tanus Lewis H&M: Shannon Reynolds Production Designer: Katherine Reynolds Props Master: Mike Kearsley Cultural Consultant: Phil Cha Locations: Dave Pink & Nick Rappard Sound Mixer: Roderick Matte Script Supervisor: Claudia Morgado DIT: Luke Campbell VTR: Anthony Kronstein Editorial: Cartel Editor: Sophia Lou Assistant Editor: John Osment Offline Producer: Denice Hutton Colour Facility: Ethos Colourist: Kaitlyn Battistelli Colour Producer: Sam Cesan Flame Artist: Chris Homel Finish Producer: Shelli Jury Audio Mix: Heard City Audio Mixer: Jeremy Siegel Music Composer: Andrew Seistrup Shot On: Alexa Mini + Zeiss Super Speed / Cooke Anamorphics _ _ _ _ _

An animated documentary for Red Bull Surfing’s mini series ‘In Plain Sight’. Surfing’s history – from Africa to Polynesia to the Americas – is one that’s rich, diverse, and incredibly nuanced. So much so, that we are only beginning to scratch the surface and understand it. Voiced by Selema Masekela, the film explores the varied roots of surfing’s origin and its subsequent cultural evolution into what we recognise today. In partnership with 1 Planet One People, a collective activation that supports climate action, racial and social equality. PUNCH-DRUNK

PUNCH-DRUNK

BAFTA Longlist 2022 - Best Short Film In a café in Marseille, a man's life begins to unravel when his lunch is disturbed by a chatty stranger. PUNCH-DRUNK is a(n almost) one-take-wonder from the ‘lunatics’ that brought you DOUGHNUT. Subtitles available in several languages. Directed by Larry Ketang & Liam White Written by Liam White DOP - Gareth Bowler Sound - Martyn Ellis Colour - Andrew McKee Colin - Barry Ward George - Corin Silva The Waitress - Babeth Diamantidis Produced by Liam White & Larry Ketang We would like to say a humongous thank you to everyone who helped in the making of this film: it wouldn’t exist without people generously and selflessly giving their time and effort. We love you forever. ‘Well, I watched Punch-Drunk... It’s good! The tension holds, it’s a good story, and the bold idea to have it almost all in one shot works well and heightens the suspense.’ - Ken Loach (KES, THE WIND THAT SHAKES THE BARLEY) ‘Loved this. Weird mix of discomfort and voyeuristic pleasure — both drawn and repelled.’ - Tony Grisoni (FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS) If you enjoyed the film, get in touch.
