The creative director, WOW’s Technical Director, Asai and the CG Director, Abe was inspired by the music and then made face mapping work. Aya Sato designed choreography. The crew of TOKYO, which Tanigawa directs, completed the project by making the video work. The music brought Asai the image of “the radioactive.” The destructive force of the radioactive could cause “death,” “suffering,” and “sorrow.” And “prayers” could overcome them. These subjects infuse AYABAMBI’s powerful performance. Their performance crushes and conquer black tears, skulls and the Heart Sutra. We built up the concept during the production and Abe designed animation for face mapping. There was a big challenge in technical aspects. We realized the new mapping system that allows us to follow intense performances by using the latest 1,000 fps projector, DynaFlash(*1) and a super speed sensor. It is very new and it had not been done before. Projected images become part of their skin and they transform their faces. At the beginning of our development, there was an issue, AYABAMBI would loose freedom of performances if we accelerated the tracking speed. Asai, Yoshimura (WOW), Lecturer Watanabe and Teshima (EXVISION) explored how we could keep the tracking speed securing the freedom of performances, taking three months of trial and error to reduce a few milliseconds. And we finally developed this system(*2). AYABAMBI is a dance unit who is internationally acclaimed working with Madonna and high fashion brands. TOKYO is an international award winning video production and famous for videos and commercial films employing technologies. Ishikawa Watanabe Laboratory, the University of Tokyo focuses on the study of the innovative computer vision. This was an exciting opportunity that these talents met WOW, which has amazed the world with tech art like face mapping and VFX. *1 “DynaFlash” is developed jointly by Ishikawa Watanabe Laboratory, the University of Tokyo and is commercialized by Tokyo Electron Device Limited. *2 For tracking hands, we use the dynamic projection mapping technology developed by Ishikawa Watanabe Laboratory, the University of Tokyo. For tracking faces, we use the face mapping technology developed by the visual design studio, WOW inc.

"All The Things" is a collection of individual narratives, unified by a cohesive style. Our intention was to work on a short, simple piece. As many of you know, sometimes personal projects evolve and take on a mind of their own. As the months rolled along, we found ourselves frequently going back and adding more content to each scene. We had a lot of fun allowing our imagination drive the development of the various narrative. Full project breakdown can be seen here: http://ift.tt/2ou7nQK

The Birth Of A Dugout Canoe by Northmen

The Birth Of A Dugout Canoe by Northmen

This is a documentary movie uncovering the difficult and time consuming process of making traditional expanded dugout canoe using mostly traditional hand tools and techniques. The master woodworker in this movie is Richard (Rihards Vidzickis) - an experienced green wood worker, wood sculptor and dugout canoe maker. Richard’s passion to green wood and solid wood creations has grown together with him since his childhood days. Richard’s father is also a wood worker and carpenter and has led his son into the beautiful world of working with wood. Richard has gone through all the traditional steps of becoming a master woodworker - starting from an apprentice, then journeyman and then receiving his Master degree in Latvian chamber of crafts. Richard’s passion to wood is not only sculpturing and carving it but also knowing the wood in a scientific level. So Richard has studied in Technical university as a student and reached his degree of Doctor in engineering materials science, so he has combined the craft, nature and science in his life and work. While working in furniture making during the studies, with making different kinds of difficult wood carving for Jugend, Barrocal, Renesance design style furniture, Richard has discovered that he tends to get back to more rustic, robust and natural forms of wood, so he created a park of massive wooden sculptures, wood crafts museum and live workshop where Richard lives and creates wooden bowls, plates, boats and accepts visitors to share his work and lifestyle. WHEN THE MOUNTAINS WERE WILD - A freeride journey to the Albanian Alps

Mitch Tölderer and Whiteroom Productions present `When the mountains were wild´ Winner of the Jones Adventure Grand 2015 & Winner of Mountainfilm Graz Kamera Alpin in Gold for best Austrian movie. On the search for mountain wilderness in Europe a crew of five snowboarders/skiers/filmmakers drove down from Austria through several Balkan countries and witnessed the debris of the Yugoslavian war for the first time. Their destination was the incredibly beautiful and wild Valbona Valley where time had seemed to stand still for a long time. After studying vague maps, checking weather conditions they found themselves on a 25km hike to a promising looking zone in the heart of these mountains and came to a stop in a little abandoned shepherd hut. Six days of heavy snowstorm later the crew woke up in Freeride heaven and enjoyed a well-earned magic day in the snow. Watch the movie and see what more craziness our team faced on this wonderful journey. Freeriding off the beaten tracks! WHITEFISH. PROVEN HERE.

WHITEFISH. PROVEN HERE.

As mountain bikers it is our nature to explore and get lost in the woods in search of the next prime stretch of singletrack. Riding in Whitefish and the surrounding Flathead Forrest of Montana, there are opportunities abound for us to fulfill this inner desire. Whitefish Mountain is the hub of riding activity with purpose built park jumps and rugged natural, mountain lines linking together a lift-serve experience that rivals any park in the country. We spent many an afternoon testing the limits of our trail bikes there. Venturing outside of town limits and into the fringes of this sparsely populated state, miles of trails were revealed. The high ridge-lines of the Alpine Trail network provide distant views of glaciers and what felt like endless turns. Further west, strewn between the lakes region, we found untracked dirt veiled by seasons of pine needle decay. After a week exploring the region, we began to question ourselves and ponder relocation to this alcove of like-minded riders, world-class trails, and the plethora of local breweries was an additional draw. _

Escape from Syria - Faiza's story

Escape from Syria - Faiza's story

After visiting Jordan last year I interviewed a Syrian Refugee who fled across the border from Syria with her two children. I asked her young children to draw pictures of their journey. This animation takes inspiration from the children's drawings and uses the voice-over of their mother Faiza to tell their story. It hopefully also highlights the shocking numbers of displaced children along with the large numbers of Syrian people who simply just ‘disappear’ under the Assad Regime. MODERAT Reminder 360° Video

MODERAT Reminder 360° Video

Moderat Reminder in 360° produced by SEHSUCHT Berlin in cooperation with Pfadfinderei A rebellious teenager slaves away in a dystopian world, harvesting crystals from a vast grey landscape. This sparkling bounty is given as an offering to a tribal deity, who resides in a shrine guarded by sentinels with green glowing masks, where he is constantly under attack from an army of drones. Take a moment to imagine what it would be like to live in that world. The text—will take you there. Pfadfinderei, Moderat’s long-time creative partner for visual works, came up with the innovative idea of using gaming aesthetic and its production tools and invited SEHSUCHT Berlin, to realize the full scope of this ambitious project. Mate Steinforth and the SEHSUCHT Berlin team developed the imaginative, politically charged narrative. Rock Band

Rock Band

The rock band is composed of electromechanical instruments that make music with rocks by throwing them through the air, slapping them and making them vibrate. The song that they're playing, Here Comes the Sun, is biographical, describing the daily experience of a rock sitting on the ground. The rock band is made up of the following members... Pinger - fires small rocks at aluminium keys using solenoids. Spinner - launches magnetic rocks, Hematite, at pieces of marble. Rocks are launched by spinning magnets using Applied Motion http://ift.tt/1mFcS8E stepper motors. Slapper - slaps rocks with fake leather. Buzzer - vibrates the plunger of a solenoid against a piece of marble. The whole project is controlled by a computer running a MIDI player written in openFrameworks talking to a Teensy. The machines were designed using Autodesk Fusion 360 and Autodesk Inventor. Instructions on how to build your very own Pinger are here - http://ift.tt/2mpsGm3 This project was created as part of Autodesk's awesome artist in residence program - www.autodesk.com/air More projects at www.neilmendoza.com

Vessel

Vessel

In 2014, I entered the army and began two years of conscription in Singapore. Soon after, my then girlfriend left for London to further her education. While sense would dictate that we part ways given the circumstances, we decided to continue our relationship. Despite the challenges of long-distance, we found ourselves growing closer together as we navigated our new but separate phases of life through our only means of staying constantly connected - our mobile phones. Our devices became essential to the relationship; a vessel carrying our voices, and our presence. 'Vessel' is my first film since being released from the military. It reflects my anxieties, but also quietly celebrates the relationship I had. The film features Michał Huszcza from the Sundance 2016 winner, 'All These Sleepless Nights', which was awarded 'Best Directing in World Cinema Documentary'.

Life Inside Islamic State

In January 2014 a brutal new Jihadist group swept through Syria and set up its capital in Raqqa in the east of the country. In the two years since, so-called Islamic State has evolved into the most notorious extremist group in the world. For the past three months, BBC Radio 4's Today programme correspondent, Mike Thomson, has been in sporadic contact with an activist based in Raqqa from a group called Al-Sharqiya 24. "Somehow, I've earned the moniker, "the remarkable Batman." Now, Batman I will accept. Bats are cool. Batman is cool. But I was not raised to think of myself as in any way remarkable. I have always regarded myself much like anyone else who navigates the dark unknowns of their own challenges. Is that so remarkable? I do not use my eyes, I use my brain." - Daniel Kish // a ZCDC film.

Illusions

Illusions

Sometimes even the tragic accidents could lead to most happy endings.. 'Illusions' was completed during my final year in Edinburgh College of Arts in 2016. Film is done entirely in screen-printing technique, which means that all the frames were drawn by hand, turned into colour separations and screen printed on A3 sheets of paper, then scanned back in to create an animated sequence. More than 400 screen prints were created while making the film. Film is based on a story "Goats Eyes" by Max Frei. Cast: Dominica Harrison - Director/Animator Tom Angell - Sound Design and Music Kenny Blyth, Amandine Vincent - Voice Overs

Hugo in the garden

Hugo in the garden

"Hugo in the Garden" is a multi-collaborative project. Here we explore how artificial common materials work into an organic atmosphere. Some polyurethane foam creating a kind of creeper or some machine knitted wool growing around a plastic bonsai. All of them grow, like the plants we all know. But particularly these ones, in a different way. We Started from the sketches of Eze Matteo. Six N. Five took all of them and made the 3d art direction and sculptures design. Twistedpoly was in charge of the beautiful animations and edition. The final touch was from Cypheraudio, who made the lovely music and the sound design. Enjoy the results! Directed by Six N. Amar Dhaka | আমার ঢাকা

Amar Dhaka | আমার ঢাকা

"My Dhaka is more than a place, its buildings, its roads, its people. It is a drama in time, where 15 million dreams collide to create a spectacle like no other. I have fallen in love with Dhaka. I have fallen out of it. The traffic, the pollution, the poverty, the bureaucracy! Yet, my Dhaka is full of life and strikingly beautiful. The smiling Rickshawala, the hustle and bustle of the street, the entrepreneurship spirit, the smell of freshly cooked Biriyani, the Falgun colours! I have traveled the world in search of love and have come back home to Dhaka to find it." We hoped to capture the essence of being in the streets of Dhaka with this project. Shot over a period of 10 days throughout Dhaka city. Even though we grew up in Dhaka, we become tourists in our own city. Exploring new places, meeting new people & discovering new experiences. Fossil Hunters of the Gobi: A 360 Scientific Expedition

Fossil Hunters of the Gobi: A 360 Scientific Expedition

Join a 1920s paleontology expedition to the Gobi Desert with Roy Chapman Andrews, then visit modern-day museum collections with paleontologist Mike Novacek to discover how these finds are studied today. This 360 video is part of Shelf Life’s second season, exploring fantastic stories from far-away places where some of the American Museum of Natural History’s 33 million specimens and artifacts were discovered. The series links those collection items and epic adventures of the past with current scientific inquiry. Visit our series website for more info: http://ift.tt/1wDoZdL For this film, our producers unearthed, scanned, and transferred thousands of archival elements to build a virtual Gobi Desert, layering material into a 360 canvas. Those black and white images were integrated with matte painting, 360 environment creation, and live-action shoots to produce a captivating look at one of the most important expeditions in the Museum’s history.

Lost in a skiers dream - Bakhmaro/Georgia Part 1: The trees and the village

Lost in a skiers dream - Bakhmaro/Georgia Part 1: The trees and the village

In times like these, in which man dominates nature so heavily, untouchedness, wilderness and loneliness are more and more rare. Thus the true values of freeriding also vanish. In times like these, real adventures threaten to be replaced by virtual experiences in front of computer- and TV-displays. But they still exist - the magical places. Winter landscapes of such extraordinary beauty and seclusion, which seemed to be lost. Places that show us what we have lost in the presence of civilization and consumption. A place with this extraordinary charm is the village of Bakhmaro in Georgia. Well hidden at 2,000 meters altitude in the small Caucasus. A village, which due to its inaccessibility rests every year in the deepest winter sleep. Due to a 15 kilometer long pass road and the lack of heavy machinery and snowblowers, this road can not be cleared of snow from October to May. And that in the midst of a region blessed by snowfalls of incredible proportions. A treeskiing dream and powder therapy at the same time for every real freeride addict. Backcountry-skiing without any competitors. Lonely lines and runs, which you can enjoy stress-free and which are snowed nearly daily by new snowfalls. Basis for this experience are the following things: a pistenbully or motors sleds with which climbing the pass road is possible, a rustic wooden hut, which can be inhabited in the seclusion of the village, a few tons of wood, to keep fires in the cast-iron stoves in the house burning, the help of local people, with which you get food, water and diesel from the valley to the remote mountain village and a big portion of adventure spirit. If you cross the gate to this winter paradise in the Lesser Caucasus, you return to originality, simplicity, freedom and true beauty. Our plan was to stay one week, finally it ended in four weeks. Thank you Bakhmaro. You have awakened us and reduced us to the roots of Freeride. Sleep on now. Many thanks for the great music to "Moderat" from Berlin and their song "Intruder"

ReflectionVOID

ReflectionVOID

*Recommended: dark viewing environment / 4K or HD resolution / quality sound ReflectionVOID A short film by Lance Page Original music by Lorn After dusk in the high desert, as the sky quickly darkens, a lone hiker stumbles across a window into another world. As the man approaches the portal, he is met with his own reflection and we suddenly sink into the ReflectionVOID. In the VOID, scattered portals reflect star patterns against deep black skies. The stars sing to us, but the relentless nature of the high desert reminds us of our mortality. The razor sharp cactus blades and the cold jagged rock formations threaten our fragile bodies. The portals allow us a deeper perspective, they show us the Universe as we reach into our souls for cosmic significance. As we sink deeper into the unknown, we’re met with a tall human-like figure, a mysterious desert dweller with a purpose and a message. Incredibly Elusive Whale Captured On Video For The First Time Ever
The True's beaked whale doesn't like to be seen, and up until now, there's never been video of one in its natural habitat. But some very lucky researchers working in the Atlantic ocean near the Azores finally got some video.
