157. a collection of moments from twenty twenty. . i first heard this strange 10 minute song by Tom Rosenthal pretty early in the pandemic. as our new reality was starting to take hold, i would play it for my fellow lockdown roommates (my kids) to a chorus of groans. “ugh...the counting song?!?!” yes, it is a 10 minute song that inexplicably counts to the number one hundred and fifty seven. i love it. i find it meditative in its simplicity and surprisingly beautiful. like life, it is slightly laborious in parts and transcendent in others. . i think (maybe) my kids grew to like it...and in the sea of uncertain days that flowed by...they grew in many, many other ways. riding bikes, crawling, grabbing golden rings, taking first steps, etc. etc. the true gift on the flip-side of the covid-curse was that i was home and present for so many of these magically mundane moments. ⚡️ . it’s been a full year since everybody’s world was turned upside down. 365! it was a year of anxiety, deep division, and unfathomable loss...but along the way we snatched plenty moments of beauty and light from the darkness. #blessed​. this video consists of mostly cell phone moments. intimate and unpolished...with a few surprises along the way. here’s hoping for health and safety for all as the next 157 days tick by on our way to the other side ❤️ . huge love and gratitude to my wife @kateriwr for putting up with my tendency to film *everything* and thanks to Tom Rosenthal for giving us his blessing to use his strange yet achingly beautiful song. also, extra special thanks to Jordan Ingram for bravely taking on this challenge of painting-by-numbers with my camera roll. � . edit - Jordan Ingram sound - Jared Blizzard music - 157 by Tom Rosenthal

The first thing I did was to share my experiences with my family, and now I want to share it with you.❤️ This is my shortfilm "Jag har Fattat" basically meaning: I've understood. Gofundme is now live: https://ift.tt/3qJQIIK Spicy Village is a New York Chinatown institution, a hole-in-the-wall spot renowned for its hand-pulled noodles, meat-filled buns, and famous “big tray chicken.” The restaurant’s owner, Wendy Li, runs the cult favorite with her husband and two children; they’ve earned accolades from the likes of celebrity chefs, the Village Voice, and the Michelin Guide. Before the pandemic, the line went out the door virtually every night. For Chinatown restaurants like Wendy’s, the impact of Covid-19 will soon become too much to bear. Business took a spike in February 2020—and not just because of a lack of foot traffic. Racism and xenophobia have threatened these places’ survival, too, with anti-Asian sentiment on the rise. Spicy Village’s future is under threat. They desperately need a show of support from New York’s noodle-lovers. This short film from cross-cultural documentary collective HiLo offers a glimpse behind the scenes at Spicy Village, on one of the few days they take time off: Chinese New Year. A time for celebration and togetherness with family, hindered by the pandemic for the second year running. What you see here is about 6 months of effort boiled down to 3 minutes. 2020 was a tough year for creatives like myself. Commissioned work in the arts took a severe hit. But I made the best of it. All of the time off gave me ample time to chase. So, I chased!!! I chased so much that I needed to buy a new engine for my truck. I chased so much that it took me 2 months to edit all of the raw footage. We captured over 400 shots in the Summer of 2020. 101 shots made this video. I hope you enjoy. Stats: Miles traveled - 38K, Terabytes of footage - 12, Days on the road - 64, Blown engines - 1, Days editing - 60 (ish), Speeding tickets - 1 (Bought a radar detector this year), States visited - 12, Viruses contracted - 0 (I think)
