He&Sea

This is my latest film, co-directed with Pieter Vanluffelen It had a world-premiere in the competition of the prestigious Anima-festival in Brussels, and has finished its tour around the festivals Racking up 3 awards along the way It’s a poetic creational epic about perseverance and passion, crafted with the same traits. There was some groundbreaking software developed solely for this film (Ultra Pictura) “an abstract gem…” Kortfilm.be "I found "He & Sea" to be an outstanding piece of work that balances the abstract and the figurative in an extraordinarily subtle way. I want to show it to our producers and creative leads, both for their inspiration and so that they'll be aware of these artists in case there are opportunities for collaboration in the future." This is Home - Jackson Goldstone

This is Home - Jackson Goldstone

Many mountain bike athletes start their careers early, honing skills well before the first signs of adolescence. Then there’s Jackson Goldstone. The Squamish, B.C. youth shot to stardom in 2010 when a homemade video of him riding, jumping, dropping, and spinning his balance bike on the way to kindergarten went viral. Since then, Jackson has risen to the top tiers of the sport, already demonstrating a signature style in mountain bike films and competing on the international stage, shoulder to shoulder with some of the best racers and freeriders in the world. Talent has played a large part in Jackson’s extraordinary riding ability, but so has his hometown of Squamish. With one of the most densely packed trail networks on the planet right outside his door, Jackson can challenge himself in any mountain biking discipline he chooses, every day of the year. Whether whipping out jump lines with his friends or pinning long, rugged downhill descents to eclipse his personal record, Jackson always rides to have fun. He thinks you should, too.

Territory can be claimed in many different ways, be it borders or walls. In summer, however, it's towels. ----------------------------------------------------- "Designed and written during the tense political climate of 2017, with the beginning of Brexit and Trump's inauguration, this short was a way to express my inner frustrations and reflections at the time. However, it is interesting that there may be some parallels to our current situation in 2020. PANDEMIC

PANDEMIC

Throughout this challenging, sad and unusual time, we are being forced to face some truths we constantly try to avoid. Death, purpose and responsibility were some of the things going through the minds of the friends that we spoke with around the world. During April we recorded these conversations, and while being on opposite sides of the world, we created this film using unused shots and personal footage. We confronted many of our own fears and although there isn’t a definitive answer, there were some thoughts that stayed with us. This film won’t reveal anything new, but it might bring some comfort and ideas, perhaps uniting us in what it means to be human during these uncertain times. - Pedro and James Read the article on Directors Notes. https://ift.tt/3hvEpfA An Autobahn Film Score: Russ Chimes Colourist: Alex Gregory // The Mill Sound Design/Mix: Thiacio Palanca // Lucha Libre

LSD: Long Slow Distance

"When I’m in nature, I'm with my body. I listen, I feel, I hear and I keep focusing step after step. I feel significantly insignficant. I am in tune with myself, with nature. We are one. Today, everything is so fast. Everyone is always reachable and connected. You have notices on your phone. Mail and messages are pouring over you. All this contact in the digital world makes me feel numb. When I run, no one can reach me. Long slow distance allows me to more intimately know myself, in all states. My best and worst self. Running for me is a way of recharging, affording my brain and body some repose from the numbing effects of that aforementioned digital world. It gives me the ability to come back and give more" - Petter Lundgren Directors: David and Douglas Runner: Petter Lundgren 1AC: Maxime Bobet Music: Ultimate Spinach Sound Designer: Augustin Bretillard Editor: David & Douglas Camera Service: Ogeita7

REI Presents: Pedal Through

Pedal Through invites us into the world of director-lead Analise Cleopatra as she discovers the healing and joy of mountain biking. Analise had never camped or ridden a bike off the pavement when she decided to plan a week-long mountain biking adventure with an all Black female team: her best friend and fellow newcomer to the sport, DeJuanae Toliver, and professional mountain biker Brooklyn Bell. Together, they traverse the Oregon backcountry on an adventure full of exploration, curiosity, waterfalls, old growth forest, sparkling starscapes, and deep healing. With raw authenticity, Analise shares all the intimate foibles, fear, fun, and beauty of discovering her place in the outdoors. The landscape opens to greet her as she learns to lean into uncertainty, accept support and trust herself on this wild ride. ** CREDITS Cast: Analise Cleopatra Brooklyn Bell DeJuanae Toliver-Porter Production: Directed by Analise Cleopatra + Aly Nicklas Produced by Aly Nicklas Director of Photography, Aly Nicklas Filmed by Aly Nicklas, Analise Cleopatra, Alisa Geiser, Jennifer Daniles Editor, Alisa Geiser with Aly Nicklas Story Producer, Alisa Geiser Color by Aly Nicklas Sound Mix by Matt Kellam Voiceover Recording by Alexa Caravia Aerial Cinematography by Skysight Motion Cinema Title Design by Brooklyn Bell Title Animation by Jessica Bressler Additional Footage by Zack Paukert and John Walker

Nike reached out to us to launch their latest iconic ISPA collection. ISPA stands for: Improvise, scavenge, protect and adapt. The film takes us on a journey through the process of the creation of the newest member of the ISPA family: the Road Warrior. Following the ISPA philosophy we wanted to champion experimental expression. Like the Road Warrior itself the film relays an optimism about the power and joy of design and creativity while never taking itself too serious. A fresh approach to balancing the hyper-cool design and light hearted humour that is not often seen in innovative sneaker design. The complete flow of transitions remains incomprehensible to us. Animation as a medium is the perfect tool to explore such philosophical ideas about time, movement and change - we seem to perceive movement through still images, yet each frame remains invisible to our eye. The film is a visual and conceptual journey, where time and movement become, alongside with the image itself, just another coordinate to abstract and experiment with. The room, the man, the film - everything moves and becomes one changing entity until it all dissolves and deconstructs completely, leaving only movement behind. 岚 THE MIST OVER MOUNTAINS

This is a continuation of the work Mountains & Rivers. I used various noise algorithms to generate mountains, clouds, mists, textures, and changes of the seasons. I've always been interested in how the laws of science, which are cold and rational, can be used to derive warm and sensual works. I know it's been a tough year, and I hope this work will make you at least a little bit relaxed at the moment. Rendered in Octane Render.

Yeti Cycles: The ARC. Down-country Done Different.

Yeti Cycles: The ARC. Down-country Done Different.

The world thought it already knew the ARC. And while that ARC may conjure nostalgia for between the tape triumph, this ARC is different. This ARC pleads for you to take it deep into the backcountry and stokes you out with hoot’s and holler’s worthy of its pedigreed ancestry. This ARC has history to live up and new history to make. And it’s already impatient. Official Music Video for Looking Glass hit classic BRANDY. Sony Legacy Recordings commissioned Andrew Khosravani and me to make a premium video for this song in order to engage newer generations of this classic recording. It was a challenge to bring out this piece with some original material. I pulled some old ideas I had for a short film and twitched them to fit the lyrics and voilà, we suddently won the pitch. Shelter in Place

Shelter in Place

March 20th through April 29th, 2020 was a very dark time for New York City, and a time we should do our best not to return to. Shot entirely from my apartment window during the first month of the city’s “Shelter in Place” directive, this film is a winding conversation about the fears, anxieties, and hopes of the residents of my street, Claremont Avenue, in Manhattan. Hopefully this film serves not only as a look back at what it was like to be alive during New York City’s coronavirus lockdown, but also a cautionary note as to why we should continue doing everything in our power to stop the spread of the virus right now. Wear a mask, be safe, save lives. We can’t go back. Director, Editor, Cinematographer - Matthew Beck Camera Operator - Elissa Castles Colorist - Colin Travers at Forager Sound Engineer - Michael Beharie at Aucah Audio Titles - Matt Kalish Music - Colin Stetson This film has been featured by the #sheltershorts initiative. “From the Ash” is a visual metaphor for pushing forward as the world seemingly crumbles around you. For those who’ve lost, please don’t give up. For the best experience, please use headphones or a great sound system. Background Information: In May of 2018 the Ute Park wildfire burnt 36,740 acres; a large swath of it was on the Philmont Scout Ranch. Thank you to the Boy Scouts of America for allowing us to film on location at Philmont. Everything was shot in a controlled setting on private land during the winter in a recently scorched wildfire area. The crew was under the supervision of forestry professionals to ensure everything was executed safely. There wasn’t a single live tree touched throughout our entire production. Thank you to the men and women who put their lives at risk fighting real wildfires around the world. Please be responsible this wildfire season. Dani

Dani

Having cancer isn't always the hard part. On top of managing your own fears and expectations, you feel obliged to wear a brave face for your loved ones. Delivering bad news with a mixture of dry science and irrational optimism becomes second nature... Dani brings such a conversation to life, as 30-year old Danielle Hernandez delivers her grim breast cancer prognosis to her mother Violeta. A story that's as unique and personal as it is disturbingly universal. Using stop-motion animation, Dani shows us how a simple phone call can be a study of human courage, faith, and love. Winner of Jury Award Best Animated Short at Palm Springs ShortFest & Mammoth Lakes Film Festival. Jury Special Mention Documentary Short at New Orleans Film Festival.

Kyle Kinane Trampoline in A Ditch

Comedian Kyle Kinane approached MEISTER to create an animation to promote the launch of Kyle's new album, "Trampoline in a Ditch." Kyle and his team were very open about letting MEISTER loose with this project. After listening to the album, we were asked to pick a track and develop treatments and concepts that could bring some additional color to Kyle's voice. Ultimately we landed on a Stop Motion animation inspired 3D Lottery Ball world and a semi-traditional 2D animation that asked the hard questions about 'Where did do all the old Kyles go?'. We story-boarded, developed styleframes, animated, modeled, rigged, texture, etc -- we did every part of the project you see here in the final 2:00 video

Missed Connections: "Was that your limb? - w4m"

Missed Connections: "Was that your limb? - w4m"

With narration sourced from a real Craigslist Missed connections ad, and visually wrapped with a fictional narrative—this is a story of a space captain late for his own launch, and the woman who was at the right place but at the wrong time. This was a project that has been—on and off—2 years in the making, requiring me to learn and develop skills in animation principles, Photoshop, Animate cc, and 3D to complete. The film works as a thesis to showcase my conceptual thinking, as well as my directorial skills. I am thankful to be surrounded by such amazing individuals who have supported me, and who have had their hand in elevating this passion project to the stratosphere and beyond. Without you all, this wouldn’t have been possible.
