Rest Stop
Rest Stop
REST STOP is a comedy short which follows Meredith, a young backpacker desperate to find meaning in her life, when she meets a mysterious stranger in a dingy British service station...claiming to know her. The film stars Ben Willbond (Horrible Histories, Bill) and Cari Leslie (Boom Chicago) and was directed by award-winning filmmaker Kate Herron. Kate wrote REST STOP with Canadian comedian & writer, Monica Heisey whose written work has appeared in the New Yorker, Huffington Post and Playboy. She is currently Editor-at-Large of Broadly, VICE's sister site. Her debut novel, "I Can't Believe It's Not Better" was featured by both the New Yorker and recommended by Lena Dunham. REST STOP was mentored on the LOCO London Comedy Film Festival with Sky Comedy mentor scheme and had it's World Premiere at the BAFTA and Oscar-qualifying FLICKERS: RHODE ISLAND INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL where it was nominated for the OSCAR-QUALIFYING prize of BEST SHORT and took home the GRAND PRIZE for BEST COMEDY SHORT. It has gone onto to screen worldwide at festivals including CAMBRIDGE FILM FESTIVAL, AESTHETICA, UNDEWIRE and CUCALORUS. It was featured by the BFI Blog as "What to see at the London Short Film Festival." "Writers Kate Herron and Monica Heisey delight in the contrast between their chirpy but gauche backpacker and the mundane snooze-fest of the dimly lit rest-stop. A sharply written comedy two-hander." - What to see at London Short Film Festival, BFI Blog.
