Group B

Group B

http://ift.tt/1UbPob1 In 2008 British Championship rally driver, Nick Rowland, walked away from the sport to pursue a career as a film director. However his passion for the sport remained a consistent in his life and it was inevitable that he would bring this remarkable sport to the big screen. In the history of cinema, there has never been a film made about rally driving and it was going to take someone with the same tenacity found within rally drivers to try. Group B is Rowland’s first test at the genre. Despite its A-Level cast and strong production value, Group B was made at the National Film and Television School in London, UK. It was Rowland’s graduation project and was made on the allotted budget of £14,000. Since its premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival, Group B has screened at more than a dozen festivals around the world and was nominated for a Student Oscar as well as won the Royal Television Society’s Student Award for Best Post Graduate Fiction. The filmmakers hope that the film’s success might lead to a future feature.
